Welcome to the Early Social Interaction Lab (ESIL) at the University of California, Santa Cruz
We study how young children develop through everyday social interactions. Our research investigates questions such as: How do young children begin to help others and participate in family activities? How do they figure out what people should and should not be doing? How do they come to understand and care about the actions, expressions, and experiences of others? We investigate these questions through home observations, on-campus studies, phone interviews, and web surveys.
If your child is between 3 months and 5 years old, please call (831-502-7595) or email us (esil@ucsc.edu) to learn more about participating in our research.
